Do you remember that feeling in late summer just at sunset...the smell of orange in the air, your toes green from running in the grass, school was years ago, and may never be again. The sun had been hot, your skin still radiating heat from a day at the beach or the Plunge or the park. Playing Caroms, or softball, or climbing on the bear and hiding and seeking in the Fort at the Parks and Rec at Pioneer park meant that you would see your best friends doing the same. The sky glowed that ominous orange yellow as the Rain Bird sprinklers began to sing. Crows would gather in a nearby tree and the starlings and sparrows would begin to circle above grabbing all the bugs they could plunder. Faces dirty, bodies spent, minds full, and not a care at all....except what to do the next day. The sun finally down, the air held its warmth, and the crickets singled that slumber was just ahead. Then the familiar first BOOM from the Land of the Mouse and the sparkling lights that lightly fell from the sky...it was 9:30 in Anaheim, California... I LOVED summer in East Anaheim. If you have to ask, you didnt grow up there. If you grew up there, no need to explain.
