Do you remember the Ice Bucket Challenge? The fervor for the World - TopicsExpress

Do you remember the Ice Bucket Challenge? The fervor for the World (swoon Cup? When *thatchick* broke the internet? All of that and more happened in 2014. Midterm elections. Robin Williams suicide. 22 Jump Street. Ebola. Events in Ferguson. Taylor Swift and Spotify parted ways. Some 17 states legalized gay marriage. To say that it has been a cacophony of discordant events might be putting it mildly. The same is true of my past twelve months. Ive experienced some of the greatest successes and some of the most emotionally taxing months I have ever experienced. Ive born witness to several friends grappling with life altering health issues. And I myself wandered fairly hopelessly through not one, not two, but four depression-filled months. The positives are bountiful, thankfully. Photo shows. A fantastic Instagram community (that #WWIM on Alberta and the scavenger hunt were two easy favorites). Portland Design Week. CAP Art Auction. The creative entrepreneurship in Portland (and the robust enthusiasm behind it). Oh, and roller skating. All. So. Good. And mostly its the people who have made such an indelible mark. Jenn and Dan visiting in March. Seeing my cousin Lisa in April. Four friends from high school visiting in October. My mom and sister visiting for Halloween (more or less the high holiday amongst the Rudolphs). My brothers engagement to one of the most positive, loving individuals Ive had the pleasure of knowing helped the year finish wonderfully. And getting to spend parts of Thanksgiving and Christmas with her family? Very much a treat. Mostly its those people around me, near and far, for whom I am grateful. Time is funny - I guess growing up is - for while I consider so many, many folks in my home ports of Providence and Boston and New York (and Billings, natch) the dearest, cherished of friends (and even better keepers of secrets -ha!), our geographical locations are a bit prohibitive. Im lucky, then, and thankful for the new, endearing, and genuine friendships I continue to form in Portland. You all are truly the cream of the crop and I pinch myself almost daily wondering how I could have gotten so lucky in the friend lottery AGAIN. At any rate, Im wordy. Did you make it this far? Please forgive the grammatical errors and join me in a toast for the year gone by and mostly to the year ahead. Ive no doubt it will be filled with its own brand of goodness and otherwise, but heres hoping its a bit more harmoniously balanced than these 52 weeks have been. To peace, good health, and good friends. https://youtube/watch?v=FKF6mMQQgZc
