Do you use a car harness for your dog to keep them safe in the - TopicsExpress

Do you use a car harness for your dog to keep them safe in the event of a crash? You might want to watch this. Of the 16 car harnesses tested, 15 failed and didn’t do a whole bunch more than if the dog had been loose in the vehicle. If you purchase a car harness that claims to be tested, there are no standards that it needs to meet as dog harnesses are not regulated the same way our own seat belts and other safety devices are. Additionally, a harness that is tested is tested under ideal conditions, where the dog is sitting upright, in the middle of the seat, facing forward. If your dog is lying down, has his head out the window, or is squirming, it is unlikely the dog harness will be effective. What’s the solution? I have no idea. We put our guests into anchored kennels during transport to and from Everydog. This keeps them safe from each other and keeps them from distracting the driver, and will hopefully prevent them from being ejected from the vehicle in the event of a major collision. At the end of this segment on harnesses is an interesting piece on store-bought flea collars. Give it a watch too, if this is a product you have used or have considered using.
