Do you want to fish at Redfish Rocks? Do you want to be a part of the science that is happening there? Well, you can do both! A message from our partner agency ODFW: Welcome to the beginning of our hook-and-line survey season! Our first dates will be July 15 and 16 out of Port Orford. You DO NOT have to do both days. If you would like to be an angler one or both of these days please let me know as soon as possible, the first five volunteers will come along this time. But don’t fret! Next month we will have more opportunities for you! The captain of the boat and I will be monitoring the weather in the next few days and will make a weather call the night before if things look dicey. I will get back to you as soon as I can, and those people coming with us will need to fill out a volunteer form before the date (I will send along a writeable pdf). The dirty details: Who: YOU! Where: Meet at the Port Orford Hoist When: 6:45 am July 15 and 6:45 am July 16, Vessel gets hoisted at 7:00 am sharp. Call me at 541-351-1526 if you are running late or need help navigating. Return time will be around 3-4 pm What: A FULL day of angling, with 45 minute sections of fishing and 45 minute down time. So bring a lunch, water, sunscreen, warm clothing, footwear, rain gear, sunglasses, and whatever you need to make yourself comfortable for a day on the water. Attention: No fish can be brought home. Suggested breakfast to minimize sea sickness: Low dairy, low protein and low calorie. Coffee will not be provided, so please bring your own. Cheers, Katie Pierson
