Do your patients actually play a musical instrument -- Any instrument? If not, you *really* should, as theres new objective research from Prof. Nina Krause at the Auditory Neuroscience Lab at Northwestern University which demonstrates that musicians -- Both with normal hearing as well as broken ears like ours -- have better speech perception in noise, as playing an instrument strengthens the auditory cortex! The working theory is that involves the hand-eye-ear coordination.
