Doce Fire Update Saturday June 22, 2013, 8:00 p.m. Fire Information: 928-445-1089; 928-445-1269 Fire Information Center Hours: 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Website: inciweb.org/incident/3437 (may be intermittently out of service) Fire Facts: Fire Start Date: Tuesday, June 18, 2013 Location: 7 miles northwest of Prescott: burning in Granite Mountain Wilderness Size: 6,767 acres Percent Contained: 40%, Full containment expected June 26 Cause: Human, under investigation Number of Resources: 771 personnel including: 19 hand crews, 33 engines, 5 water tenders, 2 dozers, and 7 helicopters Injuries to Date: 1 (minor eye abrasion) Estimated Cost to Date: $4,346,700 General Announcements: At 5:00 p.m. today evacuations were lifted for the Williamson Valley Road corridor including American Ranch, Sundown Acres, Cielo Grande, Stazinski Road and Mint Creek Ranch. Checkpoints remain in place and entry is limited to residents only, with proof of residency. Evacuations remain in place for Granite Basin, Alto Recreation Area, Blackjack and Camp Anytown. Residents returning to their homes are urged to be cautious; firefighters and apparatus will continue to be in the area. Heat still remains along the fire perimeter with potential for flare ups. The Prescott National Forest emergency fire closure and Stage II fire restrictions remain in place. Community Meeting: The incident management team will host a community meeting at Prescott High School Auditorium “Ruth Street Theater” on Sunday June 23rd. The meeting will begin at 6:00pm. Weather: Today’s weather was in the mid 80s with single digit relative humidity and winds of 25 mph. Despite the conditions for active fire growth, minimal activity was observed. Today’s Activities: Crews and equipment constructed, improved, and strengthened the line around the fire. In the northwest area of the fire, crews constructed fireline directly along the fire edge with the help of helicopters to cool hotspots. On the eastern side helicopters dumped water and foam in strategic areas to keep fire from advancing downslope. Monitoring of the fire is taking place in some of the less active areas around the southern part of the fire. A mobile retardant base is being established in the northern portion of the fire to provide helicopters a nearby dip site. Evacuations: The following neighborhoods and areas remain under evacuation: Granite Basin Homes, Black Jack, Camp Anytown, and the Alto Recreation Area. Road Closures: Williamson Valley Road between Pioneer Parkway and Outer Loop Road is open to the public, but entry into subdivisions in this area is limited to residents with proof of residency Fire Closure Update: The entire area of the Doce Fire is closed to public access, including the Doce (Dosie) Pit road off Iron Springs Road.
