Doctors are being coached by other medical professionals, as well - TopicsExpress

Doctors are being coached by other medical professionals, as well as their insurance companies on what to SAY and NOT TO SAY to patients - to try to avoid lawsuits! I read the list and I find it quite amusing! It is honestly common sense. It is suggesting the Dr. be kind, considerate, attentive, have empathy and speak in a pleasant tone and not be dismissive or rude. Wow......now THERE IS SOME SERIOUS LEGAL ADVICE right?!?! Tells doctors they shouldnt dismiss a patient when they want to explain their symptoms or when they come in with internet information. They shouldnt tell a patient, I am short on time, so lets get to the point here. That Drs. shouldnt make sarcastic remarks to patients and that they should never say, all patients in your situation feel like this because every person and case is unique. This article was written to help Drs AVOID medical malpractice suits because people are LESS LIKELY to want to sue a Dr. if they have a decent relationship with them and feel like the Dr. listened to them and treated them fairly and with respect and compassion. Breaking news? I think NOT. I think this applies to ALL human beings and ALL interpersonal interactions. be kind to others and show respect and consideration and most likely you will get the same in return. Not always, but better chance of it! SAD this was written specifically to Drs. and as a way to AVOID a LAWSUIT. It should have been entitled - HOW TO BE A BETTER DOCTOR/PERSON!!!
