Doctors in Malaysia should be thankful because we are still paid - TopicsExpress

Doctors in Malaysia should be thankful because we are still paid eventhough its not enough and trust me it never will. My friend from Egypt just finished his internship last year said he was only paid 250 le a month (around rm120), but managed to pass the USMLE and had to work part time as taxi driver just to find some extra money to pay the bills. The day we thought that we are the worse underpaid servant & the night we spent far away from our family, just remember, there are some other people migrating to our nation leaving their family for months even years just to be the cheaper cost of labor at the construction sites, 1 ringgit for us might worth 5-10 ringgit for them, 1k calories energy we spent on working might be equivalent to 50k or 100k calories energy they spent for the same amount of payment, who knows? Believe me if they are allowed to practice medicine with the on calls and the 70++ working hours per week, they might do even better than us. Last week, my first experience sitting for mrcs, it was quite cocky, not because of the questions and the time given, but i was shocked with the number of Malays and Muslim sitting for the exam, i believe not more than 20 over a more or less a hundred participants. What is wrong people? I dont think housemenship or medicine as a whole is the most busy carrier. Its not that bad, at least you learn something and get paid. Appreciate the chances you have for you might not have it tomorrow. Others would die to be what you are. So embrace yourself, be a good and safe doctor. After all medicine is not really a field to make money while expecting more holidays.
