Doctors now think that current anti-sun guidelines may be doing more harm than good. It appears that if anything the sun-avoiders were a more health-conscious bunch with more nonsmokers and non-drinkers in their ranks. Despite this they were still dropping dead earlier than people who got more sun and used tanning beds. Why? The researchers thought it might be because the sun avoiders weren’t getting enough vitamin D. This is known as “the sunshine vitamin” because most of what we get is generated in our skin by exposure to ultraviolet light from the sun outside or tanning beds. theaustralian.au/sunbake-and-live-longer/story-fnkbzth6-1227093002439?nk=468bc88f141757401c4330a111d14d86
