Dodger fans we deserve better than what we are getting from this - TopicsExpress

Dodger fans we deserve better than what we are getting from this ownership group, the players, the GM and the manager. Sports is about “what have you done for me lately?” and that is the question that we should be asking. What have they done for us? Oh, let’s see. 70% of us can’t watch games. Yet, the owners have made mil…woops I mean billions. We signed NO significant free agents this summer. We did re-sign Kershaw. I will tip my cap to their realizing it’s a good idea to sign the statistically best pitcher in 100 years…and he is a world class humanitarian on top of that. Congrats on having the foresight to realize that was a good move. We also got Haren, Butera, Justin Turner and Wilson. These are not horrible signings, but they are not great since they replaced Punto, Skip and Ellis… We get treated to a carrousel ride every night in the outfield. We get to watch a former star pout and complain because he doesn’t play more despite offensive and defensive production that does not warrant any playing time. We get to watch a shortstop who is trying to earn a 100 million dollar contract despite the fact that he cannot catch a ball at short and isn’t hitting very far above the major league average. Oh wait, 30% get to watch. We have catchers who cannot outhit the pitchers and relief pitchers who cannot hit the strike zone. We re-signed a manager that was universally criticized for managing poorly in the playoffs last year. We signed him because he is a player’s manager and that is good right? Yeah, until yesterday when he blamed all of his players for lacking any sort of team attitude. Even if he was right, he threw his players under the bus, completely eliminating the one positive thing about his managerial style. Oh yeah, and we have fans who tolerate it. We spend hundreds on seats and concessions. We change cable companies. We spend countless hours arguing with each other on social media sites. Here are my proposed fixes: 1. Trade Hanley at the deadline. He is not worth the contract he wants and we do not have room for him anyway. Guerrero appears to be the real deal and Arrib---is also a good SS. Seager is not far away. Ramirez to the Yankees for relief pitching makes sense. (Dodgers will have to eat a little on the contract) 2. Trade Kemp at the deadline. Seattle makes sense. The Yankees could have some interest. (Dodgers have to eat a lot of contract. They can spend the TW money). Then, immediately bring up Joc. 3. DO NOT trade Joc, Seager, Zach Lee, Urias…or any of our promising kids for short term solutions. Or, we can all sit around hoping the Dodgers will pull off another epic, once in a life-time run to get us going. (RJ the New Guy)
