Doe Community Residents Join ‘Ellen Step Down Campaign’ As the Unity Party (UP) through the Ministry of Information and the President’s Press Secretary condemned the ‘so call’ “Ellen Step Down Campaign Group”, several residents of Doe Community have endorsed the political campaign to remove the ruling administration headed by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf. Speaking at a petition gathering on Sunday, September 22, 2013, Mr. Julius Jaesen who spoke for the concerned residents said the reported failure of the Ministry of Public Works to complete the construction of the road from Doe Community through Clara Town is one of the reasons why the government needs to relinquish state power. According to him, the community is confronted with flooding every raining season, thus making the community watery and impeding free movement of pedestrians, coupled with vehicles. He stated that the Ministry of Public Works has allegedly failed to complete the project due to what he termed as the lack of interest to improve the community. Mr. Jaesen mentioned that there were huge influx of pro-Unity Party supporters who make fabulous political promises during the 2011 elections that have not come to fruition. He claimed that the community is backing the democratic removal of the Liberian leader to turn over state power to her Vice President, Ambassador Joseph Boakai, due to the continuous promises that have not been visible. For his part, one of the campaigners, Mulbah Morlu and Vandarlark Patricks accepted the petition submitted by the Doe Community residents. According to them, the campaign is been carried out peacefully and democratically in the interest of the state and its people. They claimed that all of the ruling government campaign promises from 2005 up 2011 have not come to actualization. Meanwhile, some residents of ELWA Community recently presented a petition statement to the ‘Ellen Step Down Campaign’ in support of their campaign.
