Ever had the experience of having to go to “that person’s” office. You know the person who you go to their office and you are never quite sure if you are in trouble or they just want to talk to you. That is NOT the feeling we should have as we approach God. We should go with confidence because Jesus paid the price for our sin. If our sins have been forgiven, then there is nothing that separate us from God. There is no reason to fear. And there is no one else necessary for us to draw close to God. In other words, I don’t need a priest or a liaisons to connect me to God. I can go on my own. When I go, I am welcomed, I am expected and I am wanted. God’s greatest desire is for us to bring it all to Him – our joys, our cares, and our problems. That is why He created us. Let’s take this one a little deeper. 19 Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Meaning – In the Old Testament times and in many religions of the world today, the average person cannot go straight to God. When Jesus sacrificed Himself, He make a clear path for us to go to God without the assistance of anyone else. You and I don’t need anyone else to get us to God. Second, because of Jesus sacrifice, we have no need of fear as we approach God. There is nothing now to separate us from God. There is now no reason that we cannot approach the very throne of God. There is noting that keeps us from coming into the presence of Almighty God – the one who made Heaven and earth, the one who opened the Red Sea and the one who made salvation possible for you and me. Application – So, how should this change the way you and I live? We should draw near to God. Not just spend time with God, but make Him our hearts desire. Put God first place in our lives. God should be more important than spending time on the phone with our friends. God should be more important than that video game you play. God should be more important than that TV show you watch. Drawing close to God is a choice and it means putting Him first in your life. As you draw close to God, you will spend more time with Him. As you draw close to God, you will want to know more about Him. As you draw close to God, you will make sure He knows about all the things in life that concern you. You will make sure God knows about your cares, your wants and your joys. Decide today to draw close to God and make Him number one in your life.
