Does M-T-G oil really work for growing better manes & tails? We - TopicsExpress

Does M-T-G oil really work for growing better manes & tails? We have a Rocky Mt. horse that had a decent tail and mane when we bought him as a 3 yr. old. Almost immediately, both disintegrated getting scraggly and short. Our experienced farrier suggested it might be in part from So. Colorados dry air? Weve also caught our other horse doing some tail biting, but that wouldnt explain his mane also being scraggly. He also sometimes rubs his butt on posts, etc. too. I read pretty good reviews on Shapleys M-T-G oil in growing hair on both horses and humans. (The label only mentions for horses). I bought some and began applying it a week ago. Besides the mineral oil, it has a lot of sulfur in it. I think it will discourage the tail biting just due to the taste given the biter. It keeps their hair looking oily for days. But, will it grow hair? Have others used this with success? Just curious?
