Does a woman have any legal right over her parent’s property? Less than 13% of women in rural India are landowners. It is for us to ensure that women have a right to their land. ‘This was the courtyard of her childhood, where work and play intertwined. A childhood spent hopping from square to square, in a home that will never be hers. Hot, lazy summer afternoons were filled with play, games transforming her childhood home into a magical world. Its sheltering verandah embraced her but will soon let her go but will she ever have a right to this home? Soon the men would make their way to the cities, leaving the women behind on this land that they can never claim as their own’ ‘A home she has built, in a house she may never own.
