Does anyone else ever sit around thinking about money? Not in the common mode of how can I get more to pay my bills, but actually sat and though about what money is? All currency is a material signifier of people playing pretend. None of this stuff has value (nothing does) unless we all agree to assign it some. Isnt that weird? Our society is full of stuff like that. The idea of authority is another one I can think of off the top of my head: we have elected officials and peace officers who are given authority over us... by us. We all agree to pretend that these guys are the bosses. Companies and military structures are just more specified and narrow forms of the outer society that we just made up. These people are the bosses of these people, but they have no authority over me. Heres a news flash: anyone, anywhere only has authority over you if you choose to play along. When enough people decide they dont want to play that game of pretend anymore, thats called a revolution. It takes a lot of effort though. Were not really used to examining things for what they are, many of us dont even realize its all pretend.
