Does anyone else have particular words or phrases that drive them crazy? Ive already gone on record saying that when our kids were growing up, the two words that were not allowed to be spoken in our home were hate and stupid, because Kathy and I found them to be divisive and hurtful. Well, the kids are since grown and make up their own minds about what words they use, and I tend to stay out of that. But there is a word that drives me crazy. Nowadays. Rarely is it ever said with anything worthwhile before or after it. More often than not, its either a parroting of what was a lame joke to begin with, in an attempt to be funny on the 34th draft. Never works. More than likely, its spoken by someone who is trying to make a comparison of current society vs the way things were when he/she was happy and comfortable, at the same time making themselves more miserable because, like it or not, we cannot go backwards in time. And all too often, its just a complaint by a cranky person, in a poorly worded observation. ie: These kids nowadays....ach! So what do you think....do you have target words?
