Does anyone else think in hind sight we maybe didnt explain ourselves clearly enough? The British Isles will always be what it is, we werent going to float away. Nobody was going to take a saw down the border and cut the island in half. Geographically until nature decides, the British Isles will exist and anybody living on the Island will be considered either British or a Briton. Similar to how most immigrants from Europe are lumped under Eastern European or Africans - Africa, etc. The United Kingdom was also going to be left in tact. The Kingdoms of Scotland and England were not being separated. The Queen was going to remain as head of state. So, the only thing we wanted independence from was the political union of 1707. Maybe the question on the ballot paper shouldnt have been Should Scotland be an independent country? but Should Scotland have full political freedom? or words to that effect. Does anyone agree? Do you think it would have made any difference?
