Does anyone have suggestions on how to distress polyester suede? I am working on a costume from The Lord of the Rings. The movie budget could afford to do a animal hide coat, my client does not. The compromise was a potting soil brown micro-suede that has a cream lambswool-like backing. photo1) movie costume 2) jacket in progress under florescent lighting 3)in progress with camera flash 4) sample of what the potting soil brown looks like in comparison to these. The dark brown has a soft nap. Ive experimented with various inks& paints. I can get it to hold a black but all other colors just absorb into the brow.The cream color is not a problem.It stains well& the fibers are easy to break down to look fur-like How do you get it to look more aged or worn?
