Does anyone know an informal place where they play a piano during the day for onlookers? Not a bar because I want to take Charlie. I was hoping to incorporate a stop into the Roswell atrium to listen to the piano with Charlie into our daily routine. I finally got a hold of the volunteer coordinator who books the talent (as I was referred to for times theyd be playing). I was responded to with so much derision, and cold dismissive attitude that the whole idea has had a cloud cast over it. I was so shocked and hurt that my voice cracked with a mixture of horror and confusion when I tried to explain to her my innocent intentions. After an extended silence she says, I dont understand what youre asking me. My friends, if anyone in authority ever claims that, you can be sure they are just trying to shame you into not asking that question anymore. Its a tactic. She asks if I know a patient or am myself an employee. This is provided for those associated with the hospital. I asked her on the verge of tears how mine and my sons ears would take anything away from the other listeners. Obviously, no one had ever asked her about this before so I dont think I was initiating a trend of non-paying people packing their main corridor. Then she brought up security. Im not homeless. I wont be loitering for hours. Im not going to be handing out pamphlets or proselytizing. I thought we would stop in for twenty minutes Id get a coffee, pay the meter, and let Charlie watch a real piano player. Then she brought up stemming infection. I said why is this your last argument? We are not going to be wandering around the hospital. You can request I not come in if hes got a cold. Im just not sure how security will handle this. Well, why dont you get more information from security and call me back. No call back.
