Does anyone know how to re-attach the rubber rub rail? Mine was - TopicsExpress

Does anyone know how to re-attach the rubber rub rail? Mine was beat loose in a freak wind storm this morning. The top is still attached with 5200 or something but the bottom is now loose. I tried snapping it back in place over the bolts but its loose in two 3 to 4 foot sections. We had a great moonlight sail the night before, then anchored with extra scope in a cove knowing that wed get rain in the morning and were facing into the wind. About 2:30am, a wind change and 35+ winds kicked up waves, spun us and worked the anchor loose. I finally made the call to raise anchor. Cell radar showed a change in forecast with major set of storms coming so we sailed from 3am until about 5:30am back to a marina. 6+knots on foresail only. That was awesome! Saw one fisherman setting/checking shore traps. Rain started just as I was furling the sail and entering the harbor. We snuck in and tied up starboard side to a floating pier to ride out a royally violent Midwestern thunderstorm. About daylight, two storm systems met and spun around creating a freakish 50-60+mph wind storm. Waves were stacking up 2 and 3 feet high inside the harbor. I have never seen the like on that lake in that harbor. We were being tossed and hitting the dock. After the first big hit where the boat was lifted up and the rub rail slammed down onto the dock decking edge, I went outside. The boat was being lifted and beat against the wood dock, completely collapsing my three fenders. I spent a harrowing 15 minutes or so with my feet braced against the dock pushing the boat away enough to prevent it from beating down onto the wood. waves were as high was the dock deck! A couple times I thought for sure that the boats stern was going to land onto the dock itself! I was watching the 7 ton 37 Tartan in front of us being tossed around! Wind was Howling through all the masts. Fortunately, the docks wood was older and disintegrated as my boat beat against it. No visible damage to her hull other than new scuffs and I inspected the bolts under the revealed section. The picture below shows wood compacted into the chainbolts. My rub rail is loose. After the wind died, the waves immediately disappeared from the harbor. It was wild. We got some sleep and then pulled Galactica out of the lake (mast up storage between weekends) before the next band of storms hit!
