Does anyone remember that close call I had with the Belted - TopicsExpress

Does anyone remember that close call I had with the Belted Galloways? Non? For goodness, sake…you lot have got short memories! (see link at bottom) Well, the other day, on the same walk, I checked first that the BGs were in the OTHER field and headed off in the opposite direction in the knowledge I wouldnt meet up with any of them. To cut a long story short, after a bit of rambling (NOT, the talking kind I hasten to add..but I do that too, on the rare occasion) and berry picking I came down the hill towards the last stile. Its a funny little set up, the land narrows to a tiny triangle, with high brambles and hedges on either side, and theres very little room to manoeuvre. So there I am gaily heading towards the stile, when round the corner are three very large, Belted Galloways, blocking my way. Id already walked about three miles and had no intention of turning back. They just stood and stared at me. I can tell you, being a townie, that my heart was thudding and I broke out in a sweat. What if they trampled me to death? No one would hear or even see me shouting for help? (Which reminds me, I must practise hat at some point. You never know when you might be called upon to scream and shout for help.) So I squeezed past them, tiptoed through the waist-high grass towards the brambles, all the time slipping and sliding in their pooh and scratching my arms on the thorns. They never moved an inch. Seriously. I think they were doing it deliberately; they say animals can smell your fear. And the moral is ..next time I go on that walk, check that ALL 17 of them are in the same field. And borrow a dog. NB Photos slightly blurred due to a bit of camera shake. reminder..https://facebook/JuJuandBubba/photos/pb.120612831337301.-2207520000.1410808343./564236016974978/?type=3&theater
