Does anyone remember the Mobil Oil Company office and yard on Highway 25? That Mobil office was located between the railroad track and the nursing home. On the office building there was a very large cutout image of the Flying Red Horse, which was part of the old logo left over from the Magnolia Petroleum days. At Christmas time, they would add one or two more of the Flying Red Horses to the building along with a Santa sleigh. It made it seem that the Horses were pulling old Santa. In reality, it was big oil companies that pulled the Electra economy along. True trickle down economics. Everyone benefited even if they were not directly associated with oil production.
