Does my 7 year-old in the back seat really need a booster seat? - TopicsExpress

Does my 7 year-old in the back seat really need a booster seat? The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends children be at least 8 years old and be at least 57 inches tall before riding in the back without a booster seat. For reference, an average child is 10 years old by the time he/she is 57 inches tall. Studies show that 4 to 8 years olds in booster seats are about 50% less likely to sustain non-fatal injuries in car accidents. Sadly, booster seats have not been shown to prevent fatal injuries over just seatbelts in this age group.
