Does the mirror have Power? This morning as I was brushing my teeth I noticed some dirt on my top - most likely put there by my youngest, Ilsa, as she loves to wipe her dirty mouth or nose on my shoulder. I said thank you to the mirror, because without it I would not have noticed that dirt. And it got me thinking, who or what is the mirror of our souls, our inner beings? The scripture in James chapter 1 jumped straight into my mind: James 1 vs 2-4 Count it all joy, my brothers,[b] when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. You see I believe that God places trials in our path so that we can see what is on the inside. God sees all things, knows all things, but just as I didn’t notice the dirt on my top this morning until the mirror ‘showed’ it to me - so too God needs to show us what is going on inside of you and I. That is why spending time in God’s word & His presence is so vital. It is in those times that God can challenge us, can show us what is going on & what He is working on. But it is most certainly also in those times of trials that we have a huge mirror placed in front of us, which reflects our souls. So the next time something bad happens to you, or you are in a really difficult situation, take stock of what comes out of your mouth and how you behave and react. God wants you and I to grow and to change - He loves us too much to leave us the way we are! God bless, Jonathan
