Does the object of your giving affect whether or not you give? Are - TopicsExpress

Does the object of your giving affect whether or not you give? Are you more open and enthusiastic to help out those whom you respect, admire, or appreciate? Are you hesitant to share your stuff with those whom you don’t know or just don’t like the looks of? If you’ve ever found yourself using this as these excuses for not giving, then consider that “He who has pity on the poor lends to the LORD.” Imagine for just a moment, hypothetically, that Jesus decided to spend some personal time with you here on planet earth. After spending the better part of the day together, He turns to you and says, “Hey, I don’t happen to have any money with me. Do you think you could give me some to get by on today?” What would you do? I wouldn’t be able to reach into my pocket quick enough to give Him whatever He needed. I’d even sacrifice what I was going to spend on myself if it meant giving Him what He needed. Who wouldn’t? Because after all, it’s Jesus, our Savior! But according to the Bible, it’s the Lord whenever we see single parents struggling to make ends meet. It’s the Lord when we’re aware of colleagues who get laid off and don’t know how they’re going to get by. It’s even the Lord when we come across people on a street corner who are just looking for their next meal. Understand that the people here on planet earth are just an extension of our opportunity to give to the Lord.
