Does the very notion of church make you cringe? And maybe not - TopicsExpress

Does the very notion of church make you cringe? And maybe not just church, but Christianity, in general? If this news about Jesus is so good, then why are so many people looking at it as bad?.... My answer: Misrepresentation of Jesus Christ. I had a person message me the other day, completely distraught, VERY, VERY upset. She said that a Christian had told her, because she has a tattoo, that she is damned to hell. That she has NO CHANCE of entering heaven, because of that tattoo. They even backed it up with (Old Testament) Scripture, she said. First of all, there are a TON of OT verses, that do not apply any more, because of The Cross, and because of what Jesus came and did for us. Certain rituals are now covered by grace, through faith in Christs mission. Second of all, this Christian, who told this lady such a thing, is doing false advertisement for Christ, and it is actually HARMING others, rather than being graceful, to bring them to know Jesus. The Bible says that IT IS THE GOODNESS OF GOD THAT BRINGS PEOPLE TO REPENTANCE (life change) (Romans 2:4). Nobody wants to change anything because they are scared, if they do, it wont last long. Instead, people change because of the LOVE of others, this includes their lives towards Christ! God does NOT care if you have a tattoo, any more than He cares if you part your hair on the left side. God LOOKS AT YOUR HEART. Not your physical beating heart in your chest, but the real you, WHO you are, WHAT you believe in, and, IF you love, respect, follow, and believe in Jesus Christ! I went on to tell this person that God would rather have a man represent Him, that is tattooed from the top of his head, to the bottom of his feet, AND LOVE JESUS, than He would a straight laced preacher in a 3-piece suit, who does not know Jesus. GOD DOES NOT CARE HOW YOU LOOK, HE CARES ABOUT WETHER OR NOT YOU FOLLOW JESUS. Period. Is there anything wrong with dressing nice? No, of course not. So lets not begin to hate people who wear ties. I, personally, like to dress nice. Nothing is wrong with that. It is my style. But If I did not care so much about such things, and I just wore whatever, that wouldnt matter either. OUR IDENITY IS FOUND IN OUR FAITH IN CHRIST ALONE. The rest is just details. We are ALL called to love EVERYONE, by Jesus Himself. You have not earned (or lost) anything with God, because of how you dress, or because of the ink (or lack there of) in your skin. Yes, we are to treat our bodies as important, and not disrespect them through our actions, but such things as styles and tattoos, WHEN YOU LOVE JESUS, are null. If God is speakinng to you to NOT do something, dont do it. But dont think that because you look a certain way, God will ever reject you. He will not. Ever. As long as you have breath. No matter what, through your faith in Jesus. So today, my friends, know this: Jesus loves you exactly as you are! And as long as you are alive, no matter if you are 9 or 90, tatted up, or taylor-made out, God has a wonderful plan and purpose for your life! And what IS IT EXACTLY that makes you acceptable to God, The Father? YOUR FAITH IN CHRIST, ALONE! Now, because of that wonderful free gift of grace through faith, SUCH MERCY AND LOVE, lets all begin to live out the lives that He has called us to live! Which is to represent Him in a loving, forgiving, graceful, and HOPEFUL fashion! If you will do this, you will be not only changing your life for the better, but you will also be changing the lives of generations to come, for Christ!
