Does your child attend a mainstream club/organisation (brownies/scouts/swimming/youth club) that you feel would benefit from training from us? Maybe you have found a club that they want to go to and you’d like them to learn about deaf awareness? The Inclusive Activities team are pleased to announce the dates for the upcoming Making Activities Deaf Friendly course for the 2013-2014 season. Bookings are now being taken for our “Open Access” Making activities deaf-friendly (MADF) courses run across the UK. The topics covered are: • Introduction to NDCS and the Me2 project • Deafness - what is it and how does it impact on deaf children? • Communication - learn top tips for communicating with deaf children, including the fingerspelling alphabet and some basic British Sign Language • Technology - find out about the devices and equipment that deaf children use • Health and safety • How to adapt activities - learn some deaf friendly games that you can use with your group For more information and booking form please see our website: ndcs.org.uk/me2training or email: [email protected] Please note places are subsidised for leaders who are volunteers within their clubs, groups or centres only (a nominal charge is required for professionals from statutory or private organisations).
