Dog Debate About 90 years ago, the entire nation was embroiled in Dog debate and the protagonist was Great Gandhi when he justified killing of sixty rabid dogs by A. Sarabhai, a textile owner of Ahmadabad. Gandhiji justified the killing, “stating that what else could have been done?” After lot of hue and cry, he had to explain, “There is no course open to us but destruction of rabid dogs. At times we may be faced with the unavoidable duty of killing a man who is found in the act of killing people.” Present puppy debate is due to the fact that the opinion being judged by its source not by its content. It is clear from the interview that the PM aspirant has not compared killing of any community with fatal road accident of puppy. What he and his cohorts need to explain is the difference between Hindu nationalist, Sikh nationalist, Muslim nationalist, Christian nationalist, Assamese nationalist, Naga nationalist, Meiti nationalist, Buddhist nationalist etc within the frame work of the constitution of the republic which he aspire to govern. Perhaps such allegory is due to low level of education of the present breed of leadership. The country freed by the sacrifice of the highly educated leaders and spokespersons of humanity & freedom, is being ruled by leaders of skin deep intellect. To survive in murky politics even sensible person has to forfeit his wisdom to the Queen of Ignorance. Respect of political leadership is at the nadir. This is the reason political leadership is called Maun Singh, Kala Dadhi, Safed Dadhi. Safed Dadhi me DAAG achche nahin hote.
