Dog Mess on our footpaths, I have just received this update - TopicsExpress

Dog Mess on our footpaths, I have just received this update from my Leeds City Council. Please report directly if you have any problems and copy me in. Thank you for contacting us about dog fouling in your area. People who fail to pick up after their dog has fouled are committing an offence, and if we are able to identify the culprit we can issue a fixed penalty notice which is a fine of £75. If the perpetrator fails to pay this fine, they will be prosecuted through the Magistrates Courts. To enable us to attempt to alleviate the problem please see the questions below. If you can provide us with the answers to any of the questions below then we can take action and/or patrol the area and issue a fixed penalty notice on the spot: • Do you see the same person walking their dog, at around the same time each day and failing to pick up? • Do you know where they live? Can you describe them and/or their dog? • If the dog owner was using a car, did you note the registration number? • Is the same dog roaming unattended each day and fouling whilst out alone? Do you know where it lives? Please contact us if you can provide any further information or if would like to discuss the issue further. Unfortunately we do not have the resource available to enable us to patrol areas where we have no specific information about the perpetrators, or times and days where offences are occurring. So any information you can provide will be gratefully received. Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention.
