Dog Parents: I need suggestions for a new vet in the Cleveland area, preferably Tremont, Ohio City or Lakewood area. I currently go to Lakewood Animal Hospital but am done! Every Time I leave feeling completely ripped off and I am just done. I took Jack to the vet tonight because I thought he might have an ear infection. Hes been shaking his head and scratching his ears. I tried cleaning them last night and they were filled with crusty black wax and he was crying so I knew it was painful. Guess how much a 5 minute, I kid you not FIVE MINUTE exam cost me? $120! To literally lift one ear take a quick glance and say yep its an ear infection. And then scribbled a prescription and a cleaner down and left. Is this normal? Ive been taking my dog to vets his entire life and have never constantly felt ripped off. Last year was charged $80 for an antibiotic that contained 7 pills and I asked if there were a generic and she said sure. $7. Why wouldnt you automatically recommend that? I was pissed. Two years ago they wanted $500 for allergy testing. My moms vet charged me $200 for the exact same blood work and gave me a booklet summary of everything on Earth he is allergic to and what to avoid in his diet etc. His shots there cost double what I used to pay in Toledo. I asked about microchipping and its $50! The kennel microchips for $10 what the hell! Does anyone else think these prices are extreme?
