Dog lovers have been warned to be extra careful when buying puppies after two litters of illegally imported pups were sold in the area. The Shih Tzu and Maltese dogs are believed to have been bred in puppy farms in Eastern Europe, taken to Holland and then smuggled into this country without having had the correct immunisations. The puppies have been taken from their mothers weeks before they should be and are at risk of carrying Rabies.
