Dogs and cats are dying in Dillon County! How can it be said any - TopicsExpress

Dogs and cats are dying in Dillon County! How can it be said any plainer? People of Dillon County are taking dogs and cats to the shelter, 10 and 15 at a time, one person. Cats--19-20 at a time from one person. No shelter can accommodate this many cats and dogs!!!! The only solution is adoption to the public; and getting them to a Rescue; or putting them to sleep (killing them). A rescue is a group or individual who will pull the dog or cat from the shelter and find a home for them. At this time, more animals are being brought in than can possibly be cared for. Rescues need money to pay the pull fees for dogs from the shelter, it is NOT cheap! That money most of the time has to be donated. Adopters sometimes need financial help that has to be donated. There are many more dogs and cats being taken care of outside the shelter (fostered) by Humane Society members and other good people. The Humane Society of Dillon County was formed to try and promote spay and neuter in Dillon County. Spay and neuter requires MONEY. The Humane Society just recently received its tax-exempt status making all donations tax-deductible or 501(c)(3). There are only a few members of the Humane Society who actually work for it and we are working toward raising money specifically to spay and neuter and educate the public. There are a few things that could be done to help generate funds to spay and neuter. Laws could be enforced (the law is already in place) for animal cruelty and neglect. The fines collected, if these laws were enforced, could be shared with the Humane Society. Fines could be charged for un-neutered and un -spayed dogs. Business license and business taxes should be collected for people who breed (yes - even backyard breeders), advertise and sell these animals on facebook, Craigslist, and multiple sites. If it is a money-making business or if a fee is charged, they should be regulated and taxed like any other business. Towns in the County should take some responsibility for the animals in that town, financially. At the present time, the Dillon Shelter facebook page is blocked to the public for comments. Eighteen dogs will be put to sleep next week, many of these puppies, many of them owner surrenders. Questions and problems were recently presented to the county as well as other officials. One (1) County Councilman answered, thank you so much Buzzy Finklea for your concern and your offer to look into the problems. It is the responsibility of ALL of us in this county to do something. You need to be made aware that these animals are dying, simply because there is no more room for them! Many times personalities, egos and politics come into play that cost the lives of these precious animals. Proverbs 12:10 says A righteous man cares about his animals health, but even the merciful acts of the wicked are cruel. Holman Christian Standard Bible. There are problems at the shelter. There are problems at ALL shelters. We have asked for help from MANY!!! What have YOU done?????
