Doing Good I have written before, several times, on Pay it Forward. This is basically a modern term for what the bible calls doing good, because by so doing, we are paying it forward. For this is the will of God, that by doing good, you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. 1 Peter 2:15 (ESV) (English Standard Version). By going about and doing good, we show the love of Christ, Who lives in us, if we are Christians. Jesus was always doing good everywhere He went when He was on earth: And you know that God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. Then, Jesus went around doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. Acts 10:38 (NLT). In a world full of evil and crime, people are longing for goodness and justice. He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers. Romans 2:7 (NLT). It just takes minutes to do something for others that will brighten up their day and give them faith that goodness still resides in people. Pay for a meal for someone in need, or give someone bus fare, or carry a suitcase for an elderly person, or walk someone across the street. And dont forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God: Hebrews 13:6 (NLT). When Jesus returns to rule the world for one thousand years, these type of deeds will be the ordinary, instead of the exception. Generosity to others never goes unnoticed by God. Blessed are those who are generous, because they feed the poor. Proverbs 22:9 (NLT). God will always reward those who live by His word and love their neighbors as their selves. If you help the poor, you are lending to the Lord, and He will repay you! Proverbs 19:17 (NLT). Even something as small as opening a door for someone that has their hands full will not go unrewarded by God. As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good. 2 Thessalonians 3:13 (NLT). What we do, we do as to the Lord: And the King will say, I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me! Matthew 25:40 (NLT). So, let us make a habit of doing good for others. So, lets not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time, we will reap a harvest of blessing, if we dont give up. Galatians 6:9 (NLT).
