Doing a little light reading on The assassination attempt of President Reagan. Hinckley got off 6 shots in 1.7 seconds, none of which hit The President directly. The one that hit The President, bounced off of the armor on his limo. The armor intended to protect him got him shot. At the hospital, the president insisted that the hospital team work on him instead of the presidential surgeons. He said that he wanted to be treated like anyone else. They then cut off his thousand dollar custom tailored suit, this pissed him off. The bullets that hinckley chose to use were "devastator" Brand, designed to explode on contact. The only one that exploded hit James Brady. Knowing that the other bullets that were lodged in other people could explode at any moment, doctors wearing bullet proof vest removed the bullets 2 days later. Interesting stuff.
