Dokubo Asari has contempt for the Fulanis, I understand most from that part do; but honestly, the Fulani is one of the greatest ethnic group that contributed to the growth of Nigeria. Their 1804 Jihad, which of course, drew its membership from diffierent ethnic groups, was one turning point in the history of this country! Even the label Fulani Jihad can only go down well because the Fulanis were the pioneers, who in turn enginnered the course of the Jihad and gave directives in the course as they are the most versatile, in the whole of what is West Africa, (authorities seem to have believed). The 1804 of Jihad, which was also an intellectual revolution in its own right, is testament to this fact. Dokubo in a certain video called them invaders--but I was contemplating whether he did the right reading; for, certainly he would have known that the Europeans were the real invaders. If migrating from one place to another for settlement, anyone boasting of historical knowledge, must have know that it was common trend in African history particularly in whats today Nigeria. Dokubo may not have realised that had there not been the Atlantic Ocean as a barrier, he and his kins too would have also moved further into may be, the Americas--he should have known that he too is there only to through migration. But if of all those who migrated into what is today Nigeria, the Fulani are what he considers invaders; I wonder what he will say of Kanuris who crossed the Lake Chad to what is today North Eastern Nigeria and took over the control of those they (we) found there, such as the Ngizim, So and Margi who in fact resisted them (us) for centuries? Or the Yorubas who claimed to have come from N/E Africa? The Fulani hegemony you may wish to call them, but honestly it is a well earned name--because what they know warrants that; and they never referred to themselves as so.
