Domestic violence isn’t part of our culture. Our culture - TopicsExpress

Domestic violence isn’t part of our culture. Our culture teaches us to value and respect everyone, yet Native American women are more likely to be domestic violence victims than any other group of women. Nationwide it is estimated that one in four women will experience domestic violence at some point during their lives. However, according to the Department of Justice, almost two in five Native women will experience domestic violence at some point in their lives. Over and over again we see negative images of Native American women on TV, in magazines, and in movies. This is not how our culture treats women. Unfortunately, this is how our women are seen. The result is more of our women are hurt.
