Dominator culture/ vs partnership culture These two modes of culture establish certain boundaries, methodologies and meanings to the individual in “society”. A Dominator culture has a strong prevailing mythos which separates people from each other/ the land, the government, institutions. In a dominator culture, to be successful requires another to be failing, competition is the primary motive, profit is the means of establishing the ring of wealth and status. Power can be bought and the law is subject to social economic individuals who can buy freedom. Nature is assumed mute, nature is different to the individual, of “another order of functioning” and the attitude is to loot, pillage, without the intuition that nature has “feelings, sensitivities or a deep balance”. The primary evidence of this attitude is logging companies’ exploiting dense ancient rainforests to create furniture. A Partnership culture is bound by a sense of prevailing unity, life is in everything, all is precious, all is in a partnership with each other, not simply survival, but romance, connectivity and bountifulness. The primary mythos of a partnership culture, is that since you am I, and on one level of consciousness, we are all that is, what is yours is mine, what is mine is yours and your success helps my success, your happiness effects my happiness. A sense of leechiness is absent, empathy is prevalent, and collaboration is of the highest order. All are taken care of because all is valuable, resources are shared with equality and one’s sacrifice is all’s sacrifice. A dominator culture emerges at a level of population density, the tribe being a family is no longer understood, as strangers have nothing to do with you. To return to a partnership culture requires community building, family building, and an equal and balanced sharing of resources.
