Dominion is currently recruiting for 2014 summer interns for Engineering and Engineering Technology internship opportunities in many of our business areas. These opportunities will be located at several of Dominion’s locations, offices, and power stations. Engineering interns will work with experienced team members to assist on projects or complete individual work assignments under oversight related to systems, design, or site engineering. Engineering Technology interns will work with experienced team members to assist on projects or complete individual work assignments under oversight related to the design and installation of electric distribution facilities, or technical support in the installing, maintaining, and repairing of electrical equipment and system protection devices. As an Engineering or Engineering technology intern, Dominion has opportunities in several areas of the company. Specific duties will vary by location, department, project, engineering degree type, and/or intern class standing. Interns will work alongside experienced Dominion engineers, technical specialists, and designers assisting with engineering calculations, field inspections, drawing reviews, and problem solving of power station issues. Interns perform routine assignments designed to develop engineering knowledge, gain familiarity with techniques, approaches, and practices that support Dominion’s Business. Areas within Dominion that require engineering degrees include Nuclear, Power Generation, Corporate Risk Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Alternative Energy Solutions, Information Technology, Environmental, and Energy Infrastructure. Fire Protection, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Nuclear, Welding and Systems Engineering majors preferred. After reviewing candidates to ensure that our minimum requirements are met, the appropriate internship recruiter (based on the students interest) will work with the intern hiring managers within each department to review resumes and interview candidates. The internship recruiter will also work with the hiring managers to determine start dates for the interns and to ensure that unsuccessful candidates are notified. Salary & Benefits: Internships provide a supplemental learning experience for the student. All internships with Dominion are paid. Housing & Transportation: Eligible interns will be provided a taxable housing stipend and round trip travel reimbursement. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Experience with Microsoft Office. Must be able to follow instructions and be a team player. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Math and technical aptitude. Time management and organization. Education: All applicants must be enrolled/registered as a full- time student for the current academic year at an accredited 4-year or 2-year college or university. Must be majoring in Engineering (ABET Accreditation Required) or Engineering Technology Must be a rising sophomore, junior or senior class standing. Must have a 2.5 GPA (cumulative) or higher. A 3.0 GPA (cumulative) is strongly preferred. 2-year college programs, additional requirements If currently enrolled in a 2-year college program, students must be pursuing a transfer degree such as an Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), and Associate of Arts and Sciences (AA&S). These transfer programs are designed for students who plan to transfer to a 4-year college or university to complete a baccalaureate degree program. If you are enrolled/registered in an accredited 2-year transfer degree program, please provide a detailed explanation of your intentions to transfer to a 4-year Baccalaureate program in your cover letter to include the following: When you intend to transfer: year/semester? Which Bachelor’s degree program and College/University do you intend on pursuing?
