Don Burts, John Brookshire and I had a marvelous, but cold time at Jazz on the Square tonight. Thanks to Jane Warner, Kathy Chandler and all of the fine people at City of Spartanburg...you do a great job. Despite the chilly weather (44 degrees and breezy by the time we packed up at 8pm), I saw some familiar faces earlier: Athena Eller andFoothills Oompah Band leader Kemp Williams (we played Beer Barrel Polka for him) and his wife Mary. Mark Kroll (sp?) stopped by with his trumpet to sit in for a few tunes. Plus we had some fun and hearty types who stayed for the duration including Caitlyn and Kim who helped us with percussion on Girl from Ipanema. There was also a fun guy who was doing a stage struck version of The Pips on a couple of our tunes to entertain his lady. Really a fun time and we were glad to be a part of this fine entertainment program.
