Don CeSar Hotel Opened in 1928 in St. Pete Beach with 220 rooms. It had many famous guests including Al Capone, President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Clarence Darrow. Due to the depression and other matters it was bought by the government and converted into a military hospital in 1942, then a VA hospital in 1945. In 1968 I was an out-patient Vietnam veteran. In 1972 it was re converted back a hotel and in 1975 was named to the National Register of Historic Places.
