Don Forrest- A man of deeds, not words. Always there to help those in need of a helping hand. He did not believe in giving fish, but teaching HOW to fish. He would go out of his way for those down on their luck. Growing up, I had several roommates, poor souls my father would take in who were down on their luck. He would teach them how to make it on their own, and they would go forth into the world, better for having met my father. He would ask for nothing in return, not because a man in the sky told him to, it was just ingrained in his character. He was a prideful man. Rarely seeking help. He wished to be dependent on nobody. A trait he instilled upon me, much to the chagrin of my dear wife. He also avoided any praise. I can see him now grumbling at me for writing this. He can deal with it though. This is for my sake, not his. If there is a god and a heaven, and he is not let in on his merits and self sacrifice alone, then it is no place I wish to go. Wherever you are, rock on, Dad.
