Don post, well I progressed some on the 102. At first I was going to do it OOB, but the local AFA is a big supporter of the 111 FIS, well not a recon squadron but any way. As we all know this was President G. W. Bushs squadron when he was flying with the guard. Any way Caracal did the markings for the 102 in the 111 FIS markings. sadly I cant find a set. Flightdecs says they have them, but I cant get a response from them. Good news I can piece mill them from the Caracal set for the F-101B VooDoo. So if I dont get them Ill make due (I have four sets of the VooDoo from Caracal. Once I made the decision to go with the 111th, I had to change for the Case XX wings I was working on tot he Case X wing as the jets for the 111th were earlier 102s. Luckily I had not mated them yet. I wanted to use an AIM-26, True Details released a set in 1/48th but again they are no longer available anywhere and Squadron informs me they will not re release them. I had heard they were in the Encore F-102 kit so I paid teh $45 for Squadrons re release of the Monogram kit with a the goodies. Sadly no there are not any AIM-26Bs in the kit, but some very nice add ins. I was skeptical but I have to say, it looks like a pretty good deal with the resion and PE add ins. So any where using a reference book older then the kit and working through each issue here is where I am. Oh and BTW, if you have never tried it, get a set of colored pencils for easy touch up. they are great for highlighting the cockpit and other areas, helped do the pilot. I am going to do this AFA set with the Monogram F-4C/D and F-101B in the 111th (142 FIG) markings and a Hasegawa F-16C in the special scheme they did shortly before they changed to a recon group.
