Donbass militias hand over black boxes On July 21, 2014, in a room packed with journalists at the headquarters of the Donetsk Peoples Republic, prime minister Aleksander Borodai handed over MH17s black boxes to the international plane crash investigators. Both sides then signed a document, which Borodai said was a protocol to finalize the procedure after lengthy talks with the Malaysians. In extending his thanks to His Excellency Mr. Borodai for passing on the recorders, colonel Mohamed Sakri of the Malaysian National Security Council declared that the black boxes were a bit damaged, but sealed and without any signs of external interference: I can see that the black boxes are intact, although a bit damaged. In good condition, sealed and untouched. While the delivery and reception of the black boxes by 3 Dutch pilots and 12 Malaysians from the inquiry committee was taking place, the Ukrainian army fired several artillery shells in the direction of Donetsks train station where the meeting between DPRs prime minister and the OSCE delegation was being held.
