Donnas Delight: My genealogical society (EWGSI.org) learned about Confederate battle flags at our November 2014 meeting. Dale Ryan, long-time SAR member, taught us about the three flags: The first (starting on left) did not work too well because hanging limply it looked like the U.S. Stars & Stripes. The second didnt work too well because hanging limply it looked like a surrender flag! The third flag (third from left) was the one the Confederate government finally approved of but by then the Stars & Bars that we recognize today had become the official unofficial flag of the Confederacy.
