Donnelly Crowned Sprint Cars of New England Champion David Suitor photos Concord, NH | Nov. 24, 2014 The Sprint Cars of New England (SCoNE) racers gathered at the Red Blazer in Concord last Saturday evening to celebrate the 2014 season and to crown Chris Donnelly of Piermont, NH as the 2014 SCoNE Champion. A social hour and a great buffet of Italian favorites was followed by a welcome by SCoNE chairman Mike Kondrat. Mike’s first order of business was to acknowledge the efficiency of the 4-wheeler drivers that push off the sprinters. Also recognized was the hard work of several individuals that make the series possible including Dan Boune, Marty Tetu, Dennis Douville, Mark Mckeon, Dave Suitor, and Darryl Lawler. A special lifetime achievement award was presented to SCoNE director Si Allen for his 50 years of involvement in racing as a driver, car owner, promoter, and track owner. The SCoNE Rookie of the Year award was presented to Luke Greenwood of Hudson, NH. Luke also took home the 5th place overall trophy. Following 1st place Chris Donnelly by 52 points was past SCoNE champion Dan Douville. Taking home the 3rd place trophy was Clay Dow. The top ten was rounded out by the following drivers: Will Hull 4th, Luke Greenwood 5th, Kevin Chaffee 6th, Jake Williams 7th, Troy Comeau 8th, Lacey Hanson 9th, and Tim Martin in 10th place. SCoNE’s officials are working on an expanded series sponsorship as well as associate and weekly sponsors for the 2015 season. Opportunities are available for anyone interested in promoting their business as part of New England’s most exciting dirt racing touring series. The 2015 schedule is coming together with firm dates in place at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vt and Legion Speedway in Rumney, NH. SCoNE appearances on the new dirt surface at Devil’s Bowl in W. Haven, Vt are being worked out. A chance to race on Albany-Saratoga Speedway’s , 4/10 mile, banked oval in 2015 is also a possibility. SCoNE begins it’s 2015 season with appearances at local car shows and track testing in the spring with races starting in early May. The final 2015 schedule will be posted on the SCoNE website as soon as it is solidified. 2015 is shaping up to be another great season with new tracks and several new cars.
