Dont EVER rely on the learned opinion of a physician. - TopicsExpress

Dont EVER rely on the learned opinion of a physician. Ever. Do.Your.Own.Research. Dig.In.Your.Heart.And.Decide.For.Yourself.... A few years ago I removed my husband from the hospital (after various hospitals, nursing homes and treatment facilities). My steadfastness and over caring of his care saved his life in each of those places. Many times over. Our medical care facilities will always think they know better than we do. They have to cover their keesters, after all. Here, for example, is what I confronted on the day Id had enough (after 7 months of relying on them) and took Roger home. Understand that it was against medical advice and I had hell to pay relative to insurance coverage and his many, many medical needs as a result... Rogers discharge papers said (Ill skip and spare you all of the clinical hypnosis).... ...Again, we have recommended to the patients wife that the patient be discharged to a skilled nursing facility due to the nursing care that the patient requires; however, the patients wife has declined and is requesting to take the patient home with home healthcare [that insurance never provided]. Therefore, the patient is now being discharged home in stable condition.... Though stable for the course of three weeks [NOT, it was an infection nightmare that equated to a gradual progression of antibiotics until we feared for his life which is why I took him the hell out of there!!!), the wife repeatedly requested discontinuing the G and J tubes so that she could take care for him at home [not TRUE! The tubes were a significant source of infection and discomfort - vomiting!... aka... covering their butts in their verbiage. I never signed a thing!] Check THIS out.... ....The wife was repeatedly advised that for him to be taken care of at home was not appropriate and that he should be transferred to a nursing home [been there, did that, he almost died] facility in order to maintain his current level of care {?!], but she refused our advice and was insistent upon taking him home..... ...The patient was discharged home with home health care [again, NOT] even though the wife was advised not to discharge him home to send him to a nursing home, but she refused to do this. Honestly, the only things I didnt share in the context of this discharge missive were a few sentences about Rogers physical condition at the time of his discharge. This physician/hospital simply had their own agenda. Meanwhile, almost four years later, Im caring fairly adequately, I think, for my severely disabled husband on my own. NEVER simply rely on the advice of ANY physician. Go with your gut. Seek alternative views. Discover. Find. Question. Mostly, rely on what YOU feel is right and stand your ground.
