Dont Shake the Milk continues to spark discussions, and I often - TopicsExpress

Dont Shake the Milk continues to spark discussions, and I often get challenges to show me the references. bflrc/ljs/breastfeeding/shakenot.htm As I wrote in my post, every biochemist Ive met says this fact is as basic as humans breathe air. And Ive asked many! In the biochem field, to even ask that question is evidence of how clueless the person asking is about basic biochemistry. Ive stopped asking, because I get are you really THAT dumb? looks from academic biochemists when I ask them for references. Another example: egg whites. Egg albumin (whites) is liquid protein which can be scrambled into meringue, and after agitation (scrambling, whipping, shaking) the original substance is NOT THERE. The result does not behave in the body the same way as the liquid protein. Human milk is a living fluid, not unlike blood. Every molecule is important to human babies, or it wouldnt be there. In addition to whole, active white cells, human milk has abundant alpha-albumin which fills unique needs in the infant (look up HAMLET some time). Why risk scrambling the human alpha-albumin by shaking?
