Dont be fooled by what it says on the bottle! Read the ingredients and know the facts! - To figure out how long a sunscreen protects you, multiply the minutes it takes you to burn without sunscreen by the sunscreens SPF. - The chart shows the levels SPF and UVB protection. Notice how there is a minuscule difference between an SPF 50 (98% protection) and SPF 30 (96.7% protection). Go beyond 50, and the increase in protection value is marginal. - You should be applying about a shot glass full of sunscreen about half an hour before you go outside AND you should re-apply sunscreen every few hours (especially when swimming, riding, running...) - When looking for a moisturizer, dont necessarily look for one with an SPF. Simply because your skin will absorb everything quickly and the SPF will not last the day. Simply reapply Sunscreen throughout the day. Exposure to UV radiation can cause premature aging and at worst, skin cancer. Each time the skin is exposed to the sun and becomes tanned or burned, damage is done to individual cells and to DNA. Some cells die and some repair themselves by getting rid of the damaged DNA. Cells that cannot repair themselves eventually become defective. UV radiation affects the bodys immune system by making it more difficult for the system to destroy defective cells. Defective Cells that are not destroyed can slowly grow and produce a tumor. Remember, be sure to protect yourself from the sun this summer. Be sure to buy a Sun Lotion with a reasonable SPF that contain minerals such as Zinc oxiode and Titanium dioxide. We carry Dr. Baumann Mineral protection sunscreen that are safe for you and your family.
