Dont buy the lie that only a Republican or Democrat can win a governors race. Independent and third-party candidates have been elected governor in states from Alaska to Maine, and the current governor of Rhode Island was elected as an independent, and Florida could be next. Many mainstream Republicans and even Tea Party supporters are disgusted by Republican Governor Rick Scotts blatant service to big money corporate interests, while many Democrats are appalled at their leaderships anointment of former Republican governor Charlie Crist as this years Democratic candidate. Crist was elected by less than 25% of Floridas registered voters in 2006, and Scott by less than 22% in 2010, while Democrats polled even less. Today over 25% of Floridas voters are registered as independent or minor party. Together with disaffected voters from both major parties, an independent can win handily. One independent candidate, economist Farid Khavari, is attracting support from across the political spectrum because his detailed economic plan makes sense to 90% of people (and he is the only candidate to offer any plan at all).
