Dont forget the upcoming eclipse next Tuesday. Some good tips from Canon on how to shoot the event below: A lunar eclipse takes place next Tuesday - but how to photograph it? Heres three tips from our Canon Academy (canon.au/academy) experts:- 1. Use wide-angle - the easiest way to photograph a lunar eclipse. Youll need a camera capable of long exposures for 5 seconds and more. Place the camera on a good quality tripod and a cable release will ensure against camera shake. The self timer option is an alternative too. 2. Use a focal length range of 28-35mm - or for full frame bodies use a focal length range of 16-30mm. The 16-35MM f/2.8L II USM Lens is an ideal piece of glass for this adventure. Wide angle allows you to include interesting foreground that can add content to the frame too. If you are lucky enough to own a long telephoto lens and perhaps a 2x convertor to a 200mm or 300mm lens you can create a reasonable image of the full moon that will go close to filling the frame. 3. Set an ISO of 400 and open the lens to its widest aperture. Try a variety of exposures adjusting the shutter speed in 5-second increments up to 30 seconds. Any longer and youll begin to see star streaks due to the earth’s rotation. Need more tips? Join our online courses >> canon.au/academy
